13:4 | Verse T-Shirt
THE MOMENT
Paul was writing to a church that wasn't exactly getting along. People were arguing, comparing themselves, competing over whose abilities mattered most, and struggling with how to live together. Right in the middle of all that, Paul starts talking about love. Not romantic love; not a feeling; an actual way of treating each other.
LOOK CLOSER
The Greek word translated “kind” is chrēsteuetai. It’s not just about being nice or having warm feelings toward someone. It describes kindness that does something - being useful, helpful, or good toward another person. Love, here, has hands and feet.

IF SOMEONE ASKS…
You don't need a perfect explanation. Maybe this verse matters to you because…
- You need the reminder that love can look like patience when patience is hard.
- You want kindness to be something you practice, not just something you value.
- You love that these words weren't originally written about romance, they were written to people learning how to live together.
- You're learning that loving someone and always agreeing with them aren't the same thing.
- “Patient and kind” is simple enough to understand…and challenging enough to spend a lifetime practicing.
Or maybe your reason is entirely your own.
THE VERSE
“Love is patient, love is kind.”
