29:11 | Verse T-Shirt

THE MOMENT

These words were sent to people living far from home-and not by choice.  Jeremiah was writing to Israelites who had been forced from their homeland and taken to Babylon - and they weren't being promised a quick return. Just a few verses earlier, they're told it would be 70 years before they could go home.  Then comes this promise.  Their circumstances were hard. Their wait would be long. But their story wasn't over.

LOOK CLOSER

The Hebrew word translated “welfare,” “prosper,” or “peace” (depending on the Bible translation) is shalom.  It means more than things going well. It carries the idea of peace, wholeness, well-being, and things being as they should be. God's promise wasn't simply for an easier life. It was shalom.

IF SOMEONE ASKS…

You don't need a perfect explanation. Maybe this verse matters to you because…

• You need hope that doesn't depend on everything changing immediately.
• You're in a season that looks nothing like the one you expected.
• You love that these words were originally given to people in the middle of a long wait, not after everything worked out.
• Shalom reminds you that God's idea of good can be bigger than simply making life easier.
• You need the reminder that a hard chapter doesn't have to be the whole story.

Or maybe your reason is entirely your own.

THE VERSE

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
